Personal Project - Evaluation
Personal project
For this unit I was allowed to pick what I was doing such as media and themes. For the chose of media I knew I was probably better to do something digital in some way, it was ether going to be an digital illustration or animation of some sort as I am very interested in them.
I decided not to do illustration as I was doing that for a different unit and didn't want to confuse myself and I already had some ideas for an animation.
A hit for a hit
For the theme I chose to look at morals and from this I came up with three ideas.
The first was a looping image to represent karma in the vane of an eye for a eye.
The stages of creation;
Sketching it all out in both my sketchbook and on the computer as a storyboard.
Refining the sketch
while doing this I realised I liked the style of jumpy animation from the sketchy nature and kept it in.
Adding the background
I did this to give more detail when the camera turns to face the characters
Train dilemma
The second was a 30 second animation for the Trolly Dilemma, a question designed to point out peoples moral in a difficult situation. instead of a trolly I chose to do a train as there is one round the corner.
For the creation of this one I repeated the first couple of steps as the first;
Sketching it out and refining the sketch
but instead of drawing the animation frame by frame I made a armature a series of drawn objects converted to symbols to stop the distorting and scaling up stuck by the joints allowing me to move the objects and give more smooth movements.
while doing the animation I was a bit stuck on the ending so I asked the people around me the dilemma with the idea of using the most used answer but as I asked I thought about not even giving a answer and have the animation take a different turn like the trains on a different track or it stops and so I did and I think it made the animation better as its more humorous.
Stupidity is Contagious
This one is a moral concept I thought about not one I found online. The concept is if you hang about with unsavoury, bad behaved people or in the animations case stupid people you will start to act like them to fit in.
For this I decided to go a little surreal and making stupidity a monster coming out of one and going into the other to help the idea while also making it more humorous and disgusting.
The steps for this was the same as the other but I did not have need for a armature for the animation was supposed to be similar to cut-out animation.
For the theme I did not want to spell out the theme but with comments of my class mate it seems I had to at least give a hint.
And this is the final.
All in all I like what I have produced they are funny as least to me and do all the things I set out to do, although if I where to do it again I would like to look into adding sound, more detail with smoother animation and maybe try different animation styles as I originally wanted to do.

I wanted it focus on the movement and actions for this.

For each of the animations I tried to focus on a fundamental of animation the first being movement this one being facial expressions. and the next on the movement of the mouth give the illusion of speech.
