Contemporary art

For this unit I have done digital collage or photograph manipulation as I have been interested in the effect that it can make. While doing this unit I found myself focusing on the theme Confined - Balanced – Fragile – Frantic - Still but through this theme I was also focusing on the environment to fit into my digital media.
The first idea was 

 

This was based on the balance humans play in the world and how the environment can't equalise the world.

The second idea was

This one was trying to show being still in a frantic world.

The third idea was to attempted graffiti to represent still and confined which was inspired by a wall I pass on my way home each day.

This is the point I decided to look at different techniques to try, that is when I decided to try sculpture as I have been looking at Nathan Coley work with his cardboard buildings

 and decided to try it myself

After this I realised I could use this for surface pattern for one idea was to put a pattern on a building

While building I really got into the building process and so I created shapes

 With this it turn into an idea for fragile and balanced which was a series of shape balanced on top of each other not stuck down to make it more fragile 

After I got infuriated with this idea because it kept falling over  I decided to go back to the computer to work on my final idea which was to display how people can be two faced in other words a fragile farce.

I like the out come of this as I think it works for showing the idea and shows the fragile nature behind it.
